centerpiece

Gorgeous, yet so easy.  I’ll be making this centerpiece for my Thanksgiving dinner.  Simply clip a cluster of branches from a tree in your yard, (it’s time to prune anyway),  or use fallen branches, and secure it into a large vase.  Hang tealight candles from the branches and surround the base with flowers or leaves.  It’s as simple as that.  Gorgeous, low cost, high impact, and totally Green.  Love that!

    Hello,

I would be very grateful if you could email me to let me know whether you used real or LED candles in the candle holders hanging from the tree centrepieces. I think the picture is beautiful and I am trying to copy it for my wedding, which is in a few weeks.

    Many thanks,

    Kathy

  • They are real candles. Try to get votive candles or small pillar candles that will fit in the jar with a long burn time. That way you won’t have to replace the candles half way through the night. Best of luck with your wedding plans. Congratulations!

I’m planning a May 2012 wedding. Is this appropriate for a spring wedding? I love it so much!

  • Absolutely! The beauty of this day is that you are in control of every single detail. You can make it exactly what you love. Take the time to pour yourself into every detail. You’ll be so happy you did and it makes it much more memorable. You don’t need a huge budget to be fabulous. All you need is creativity and a vision.

Where can I find votive holders to hang onto the trees like this? And what is being used to put the flowers into which are surrounding?

  • These were purchased at Michael’s. What area do you live in? You can find these at most hobby/art supply type stores. Also available at Candle Factory Outlet if you have one of those in your area.

How do you secure the branches in the vase? I love this idea and I’m going to try to re-create it.

    Thank you,

  • The branches don’t need to be secured down as long as you are using a very long vase to keep them secure. Notice in the picture how the clear vase is fairly tall…18-24 inches. Then arrange the branches in criss-cross fashion in the vase.

Thank you so much for the beautiful and “green” idea :)

Love this idea! For my friend’s upcoming Fall wedding next October, she is wanting to possibly use this idea but we’re in Indiana and branches like this are hard to come by. What’s your best technique for finding so many that look similar?

  • Amanda, branches like this are so easily found…right in our own backyards, here in the states. If they aren’t plentiful, however, where you live, most craft stores sell branches like this. You can also find them online. You can also craft your own branches out of man made materials, too.
