Great skincare products can be found right in the pantry of your kitchen.  Not only are they healthier for you, they are also on the cheap.  Baking soda is a great way to exfoliate your skin.  Because baking soda contains tiny granules of sodium bicarbonate, it makes for the perfect substance to lightly exfoliate your skin.  It also has antiseptic properties that will ward off breakouts.  Simply make a paste with a palm-full of baking soda combined with a small amount of water.  Apply to face, working in a circular motion, and allow to dry for three minutes.  Rinse away with warm water, followed with a splash of cold to close pores.  Keeps your skin looking refreshed and blemish-free.

Sugar or salt scrub, which is better?  They’re both fantastic agents to exfoliate and scrub the skin.  Here’s where the difference lies…a sugar scrub will be less coarse than salt.  Sugar scrubs are softer on the skin, gentle, yet super-effective, exfoliating the skin and buffing away dry patches and making your skin ultra soft.  Salt scrubs act in the same way as a sugar scrub, yet many times you’ll find salt scrubs to be a more coarse consistency than sugar.  A scrub made with a more coarse consistency exfoliates the skin twice as much.  Of note, do not shave your legs at the same time you are using a salt scrub.  The  salt will sting and irritate your skin.  If you’ll be shaving before or after your exfoliation, use a sugar scrub, which doesn’t irritate the skin after a shave.   Try Supernatural Botanicals all natural eco-body scrubs for super-soft skin that looks healthy and radiates beauty.

Facial Exfoliators
Posted on February 13th, 2010 at 7:43 AM by Supernatural Botanicals

If you start using a gentle exfoliator on your face, your skin will look better.  It’s as simple as that.  Exfoliated skin looks fresh and flawless.  There are many facial exfoliating options, everything from the Buff Puff to Microdermabrasion and Peels.

A perfect facial exfoliator that’s great for everyday use is exfoliating gloves.   Use the gloves to gently exfoliate delicate facial skin.  Since you throw them in the washer after use (much like a wash rag) they are more eco-friendly than disposable sponges and puffs.  Exfoliating gloves are a must-have to keeping skin looking radiant.  They are exceptionally great to exfoliate lips.

Cranberry Sugar Scrub
Posted on November 17th, 2008 at 9:14 AM by Supernatural Botanicals

cranberries.jpg   Kick up the exfoliation with a fantastic cranberry scrub.   You can use either a fine sugar granule, which is less abrasive to the skin, or use a large granule sugar, such as Sugar In The Raw, for an intense scrub.  I tend to like the smaller granules personally.  It’s softer to the skin, while standing up on the efficacy scale as well.

 1 cup fresh cranberries
1 1/2 cups organic sugar
1/2 cup sweet almond oil
1 scraped and finely chopped vanilla bean
15 drops jasmine essential oil
5 drops rose essential oil

Crush cranberries in food processor until fine; add sweet almond oil, vanilla infusion and pour into large bowl and add sugar, mix well and put into jars.  Put into an air tight container and use while showering.  Perfect for gift giving!
