Foods That Are Good For Your SkinYou’ve heard the cliche, you are what you eat. As it turns out, that’s exactly right! Since the body doesn’t store excessive amounts of wrinkle-fighting vitamin C, you need to consume Oranges, Lemons, Limes, and Grapefruit (in addition to a multivitamin) to keep your skin looking hydrated and youthful. Oranges contain the highest level of vitamin C of these four fruits. Eating citrus fruits helps the body maintain high levels of vitamin C, an antioxidant, which increases collagen, the supportive protein fibers that stop your skin from sagging. Of note, collagen breakdown increases in your mid 30s, so be proactive and eat citrus fruits to help your skin fight the good fight.

AromatherapyThe fresh aroma of citrus is an ideal mood booster and energizer. “It stimulates the area of the brain that makes us feel alert” says Dr. Alan Hirsch, M.D. the neurological director of the Smell and Taste Treatment Research Foundation in Chicago. For a jolt without the jitters, mist your body with grapefruit. (ed note: Look for Supernatural Botanicals new body sprays and lotions in grapefruit in October!)

Psychology is Connected to ScentHow is psychology connected to your sense of smell? It’s the first sense that is activated when we are born. Smell is provocative and deeply connected to our emotional state. People who lose their sense of smell can even lose their will to live. Your olfactory system can take your mind to places and situations in the past, recalling events that you’ve tucked away in your psyche. Take a few minutes each day to stimulate your olfactory system by breathing in wonderful scents, such as citrus (to enliven your mood) or lavender (to evoke a calm mind.)

Natural Cures For DepressionGrapefruit Essential Oils have many therapeutic benefits, one of which is its antidepression properties. Grapefruit essential oil contains chemical compounds which help to stimulate the production of hormones in the brain, including adrenaline and serotonin, thereby decreasing the symptoms of emotional and physical stress and depression.
Before calling the doctor, try to alleviate your ailments naturally. If you are feeling blue, try breathing the fresh scent of Grapefruit Essential Oils to brighten your spirits and stimulate your mind.
For skincare products containing pure, all-natural Grapefruit Essential Oils, check out Supernatural Botanicals.

Wash Your FaceAre you falling in bed each night completely exhausted? Too exhausted to wash your face before bed? Sleeping in makeup is considered a Cardinal sin in skincare maintenance. It blocks your pores, essentially smothering your skin. It causes the appearance of your skin to look dull and older than it needs to look.
The added benefit, for me, is the aromatherapy aspect I get from washing my face with Spa Soaps. Spa Soaps are our best sellers at Supernatural Botanicals….and for good reason. They smell amazing and give immediate aromatherapetic benefits. For instance, Grapefruit and Orange essential oils are thought to stimulate the mind and enliven the spirit. I love washing my face with this. It’s instantly refreshing.
I also love the fact that I can wash my face with a bar soap and not have to worry about breakouts. In our clinical study, none of our participants experienced any breakouts whatsoever, and in fact, all noted improved complexion.

5 Things: Aromatherapy! What exactly is aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile plant oils, including essential oils, for psychological and physical well-being. Essential oils, the pure essence of a plant, have been found to provide both psychological and physical benefits when used correctly and safely, from mood elevating to healing.
Lavender: Lavender is used for stress or sleep. The aroma of lavender has been known to calm and relax the mind. Lavender has additionally been used for: Acne, allergies, anxiety, asthma, athlete’s foot, bruises, burns, chicken pox, colic, cuts, cystitis, depression, headeache, earache, oily skin, and vertigo.
Grapefruit: Grapefruit is thought to sharpen mental acuity, stimulate thought, and create a cheerful balance. Grapefruit essential oil is also very beneficial to oily skin, improves complexion, and helps with cellulitis and water retention. Not to mention, it smells delicious!
Orange: Similar to Grapefruit’s benefits, orange essential oil stimulates the mind, evokes a cheerful mood and happiness, and smells amazing. Orange essential oils are also thought to aid in digestion and clear oily skin.
Ylang Ylang has a beautiful sweet, slightly fruity fragrance. It has also been used to treat anxiety, depression, frigidity, hypertension, palpatations, and stress.
Rose essential oil immediately takes you to that place of calm. Beautiful floral scent. Rose oil has been used therapeutically to treat depression, eczema, stress, frigidity, and menopause symptoms.
Put some thought behind the scents you choose. They do much more than make you smell amazing. They create balance, and submurge you in a zen-like state.
