Rounding third and heading for home, the Smart Talk Connected Conversations finished it’s fourth in a five part series for 2011 with Alison Levine in Cincinnati last evening. Alison was the Team Captain of the 1st American Women’s Everest Expedition and Groundbreaking Polar Adventurer; Alison Levine is no stranger to risk-taking. She’s survived sub-zero temperatures, hurricane-force winds, sudden avalanches, and a career on Wall Street. Levine was born with a life-threatening heart condition that precluded most demanding physical activities. After her initial diagnosis she had surgery that changed her life – and climbing stairs soon gave way to climbing mountains. To learn more about Alison, check out her website, www.AlisonLevine.com.
As always, Smart Talk hosts another amazing women with yet another amazing journey. Don’t miss the last speaker in the series, Ms. Della Reese. She will be at the Aronoff in Cincinnati on May 17th. For ticket information, see here.

Soledad O’Brien in Cincinnati
We had a great time with Soledad O’Brien last night with Smart Talk Connected Conversations in Cincinnati.
The one thing we all took away from Soledad was that she’s one smart cookie. She is, after all, a Harvard graduate. Soledad said the inspiration for her to go to Harvard was that all five of her siblings went to Harvard (kudos to the elder O’Briens). She went on to say that her sister , whom she said was no scholar, just a good student, advised her every step of the way while Soledad was in high school.
At heart, though, Soledad is a journalist and it shines through every time she speaks. Soledad was on the scene in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti. She did a great job of communicating the intricate details of such massive devastation. If journalism is your thing, look to Soledad as one of your mentors.

Try It Out Tuesday: Zevia<a href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=CONTEST87475f2c1909e4e6d0d7f0e020a2ded3″>Sponsored by Tomoson.com</a>

A few days ago on Facebook I was voicing on my eagerness to kick my Diet Pepsi habit, so my friends over at Zevia sent me a challenge. They sent me some of their natural diet sodas.
So change is hard, right? It’s hard for everyone with everything….especially when it comes to your signature drink.
But the cans looked beautiful and the flavors seemed so good, and we already know I’m two steps shy of being a tree-hugger, so it’s safe to say, I appreciated the “natural” part of the soda.
I first tried Ginger Ale. One sip and I as a believer. But I kept drinking more and more to be sure. Next I tried the Ginger Root Beer, of which tasted absolutely nothing like a “diet” drink…so delicious. Other flavors were black cherry, orange, cola and orange. I loved all of them. They are really light and refreshing, and made with “good for you” ingredients.
You will absolutely love, love, love these drinks. It’s such a great break from traditional diet colas. The flavors really pop in your mouth and there’s lots of variety. It’s almost like dessert…and who doesn’t love that? Even Oprah does!
And the great news is that Zevia is going to give away some of their natural diet sodas to you, too! Simply become a fan of Zevia on their Facebook page.
Then simply leave a comment here on our blog letting us know you became a fan on Facebook. It’s that simple. Good luck!
